Using Mathematica:

If you do not have a copy of Mathematica, there are several ways in which you can gain access to one in order to use the notebooks on this site.

1) You can go to 273 Soda, login to a UNIX terminal, and run "mathematica" (or "mathematica6").

2) Using Cygwin/X on a Windows PC or an equivalent, you can access Mathematica from home. First, you will need to install the Mathematica fonts. For help with this, see the appropriate section here. Then, from within an xterm window with X11 forwarding enabled, run "ssh -X {your-UNIX-account}@quasar.eecs.berkeley.edu". At that point, you should be able to run "mathematica" or "mathematica6" as in step 1.

3) The first two methods will allow you to edit Mathematica notebooks in addition to displaying them. If, however, you only care to view them, and don't need the functionality of editing, then you can download Mathematica Player for free.
