University of California at Berkeley Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences Instructional Support Group /share/b/pub/cs61c.help Mar 20 2009 CONTENTS: Computing Resources for CS61C Playstation 2 Computing Resources for CS61C ----------------------------- CS61C are issued UNIX accounts and can login to any Instructional UNIX computer lab or server. They typically use the SUN Sparc servers via the xterminals in the second floor Soda labs (for names and locations of computers please see http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/clients). CS61C typically uses this software on UNIX: C, MARS For the course WEB site, please see either http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~cs61c http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~cs61cl Playstation 2 ------------- Update: unfortunately, the PS2 broke in 2009. This is for reference. We have an old PS2 (with a real MIPS chip) running Linux for CS61C. Because it runs an old and insecure version of Linux, the PS2 is not on the Internet. It is on the non-routable SunRay VLAN for 271 Soda. We copy the current passwords to it each semester and create a local home directory for each account. It's accessible as "192.168.128.181" (no hostname) only from nova.cs (and the SunRays in 271 Cory), with commands such as ssh -l cs61cl-aa 192.168.128.181 scp somefile cs61cl@192.168.128.181:somefile CS61C students will be notified when the accounts have been set up. Then the can login to it and run their MIPS binaries. There is additional documentation for the students about the PS2 in http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/clients.cgi?choice=271soda.
