The computer that is queried must run a finger server daemon. The EECS Instructional UNIX computers use the GNU finger server, which has a specific set of options. "gfinger" command options: If you type a command such as "gfinger jdoe@cochise.cs" you get a response that includes a search of all the workstations in the "cochise" cluster. It will tell you which worksatation "jdoe" is logged into. You can use our WEB-based "clients" utility (http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/clients) to locate that computer.
