		     What if you are threatened in a lab?


Hello students, instructors and staff:

The active shooter tragedy at Umpqua Community College in Oregon on Oct 1 is 
a serious concern for us all.  Here are ways you can call for help during an 
emergency in our labs (campus phones allow 5-digit campus calls and "911"):

Access to every EECS instructional lab is restricted by cardkey on evenings, 
weekends and holidays.  Many labs are restricted 24x7.  Students in EECS 
classes are automatically enabled for cardkey access to the labs for their 
classes.  This is a good time to remember the rule not to let unauthorized 
people into the buildings or labs.

Recommendations include:  get away from the target area if possible, hide, or 
take cover behind something like a concrete wall or the engine area of a car.
