The author is Chris Dewhurst Capilano Computing Ltd, Vancouver Canada, (800)444-9064 Publisher: Benjamin Cummings Publishing (Vancouver), (800) 322-1377 For $45, students can buy their own copies directly from the publisher to take home. LogicWorks for EECS Classes --------------------------- LogicWorks 3.0.3 is installed for EECS classes on these PCs in 199 Cory: C199-1, C199-2, C199-3, C199-4, C199-5, C199-6, C199-7, C199-8, carter The LogicWorks tutorial is on-line at http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~inst/pub (requires EECS Instructional UNIX password). Licensing --------- Instruction purchased LogicWorks 3.0.3 with 20 floating licenses (honor system) and 10 manuals in March 1998. The licenses are good only for this version, but there is no expiration date. 1994 prices: $45/copy or $500 for an unlimited license server. For an unlimited license server, the publisher imposes these restrictions: - it must be a course requirement that each student buy the text "Contemporary Logic Design" (Katz) each semester (which may optionally include a Logicworks diskette); - we must prevent use of LogicWorks by any who have not bought the text; - LogicWorks must be on one server and may only be used in one building; - it cannot be copied off the server. These restrictions make the site license unappealing, so we have opted for a fixed number of licenses instead. Troubleshooting --------------- When running LogicWorks on a WinNT or Win2000 computer: - Right-click on the background screen. In "Display Properties", select "Properties" (WinNT) or "Effects" (Win2000), and deselect the feature "Show window contents while dragging" - the C:\TEMP drive cannot be a shortcut to another folder EECS Instructional Support 378/386 Cory, 333 Soda inst@eecs.berkeley.edu
