It stores your password and other account information in databases. To change the password, login shell or full name in your UNIX LDAP entry, login (using "ssh") to update.eecs.berkeley.edu. A menu of options will appear. The change propagates to all of the EECS Instructional UNIX computers within a few minutes. For more technical info about LDAP, please type "man ldap" on any of our Solaris systems. The EECS Instructional UNIX passwords only work on the Instructional UNIX computers (please see http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/clients for computer names). Non-Instructional UNIX computers in EECS, such as argus.eecs and research computers, use a different password service. Microsoft Windows Passwords --------------------------- The Microsoft Windows domain passwords are not synchronized with Instructional UNIX account passwords. You can change your Windows password by pressing the keys after you have logged onto the account. The EECS Windows domain passwords work on all Windows computers in EECS (Instructional, research and administrative computers).
