SUN Solaris Operating System
----------------------------

  The SUN Solaris operating system is no longer running on any EECS
  Instructional computers.  It was our predominant UNIX operating
  system until Fall 2016.

  Our WEB server (http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu) was converted from  
  Solaris X86 to Ubuntu Linux in 2017.  This has implications for 
  CGI programs that our users are running on the WEB server (see
  http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/setup.html#features).  The CGI 
  scripts may need modification to run on Linux instead of Solaris.

  All of our UNIX systems are now running Linux (Ubuntu or Centos).
