Limited licenses are available from the Dept of ME for use only in classroom computing facilities at UC Berkeley. The licenses are renewed annually during the summer and are typically one version behind the commercial version. For more information, please email xmesupport@me.berkeley.edu. Research labs can buy their own licenses from Solidworks. Autodesk Inventor Professional ------------------------------ Autodesk Inventor Professional is similar to Solidworks. Anybody from an educational institution can download it for free, from http://students.autodesk.com Solidworks EECS licenses (archived notes) ----------------------------------------- Solidworks 2007 was installed on workstations in 204 Cory for use by EE192. Solidworks 2004 was installed on the RDC server kramnik.eecs.berkeley.edu. Solidworks 2006 and 2007 are not supported for multiple concurrent users on an RDC server or on Windows 2003 at all. By default, Solidworks directs the user files to a directory where students don't have the write permission, so students should save their files in their U: drive (their network share). The EECS licenses expired on Oct 15, 2009. Instructional Support Group 378 & 386 Cory, 333 Soda inst@eecs.berkeley.edu
