University of California at Berkeley Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences Instructional Support Group /share/b/pub/twiki.help Jan 17, 2006 CONTENTS: Wikis Twiki Wikis ----- A Wiki is basically a WEB site that users can modify. Users register themselves and login to the site. It is good for collaboration (and, apparently, fairly self-immunized from abuse). They generally require a small database for each site, and maybe a revision control program. Twiki ----- Twiki is a public-domain CGI-based Wiki written in Perl (http://twiki.org/). EECS Instruction has bundled Twiki for installation on course WEB sites on our WEB server. It can be installed by running the script /share/b/twiki/twiki_install.sh on an Instructional UNIX system such as cory.eecs.berkeley.edu. Instructors should ask inst@eecs.berkekley.edu if they need help. The teaching staff of a given course is responsible for their own site. If the Twiki will be unmoderated (such as at the end of the semester), it should be removed. The Instructional support staff cannot be responsible for the content or any abuse. There is no backing database to this wiki; it uses text files. Bug Reports ----------- Please report problems with software on the Instructional systems to inst@eecs.berkeley.edu.
