University of California at Berkeley Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences Instructional Support Group /share/b/pub/zemax.help Dec 18 2018 CONTENTS Zemax for EE118 Zemax on Servers (unsupported) Zemax Licenses Zemax for EE118 ---------------- Zemax (http://www.zemax.com/) produces software for optical and illumination design. Prof Waller obtained OpticStudio-Premium-NET for EE118/EE218A (Optical Engineering) in Spring 2019 (licensed until 15 Jun 2019). Previously, Zemax-IE was installed for EE118/EE218A on the Windows workstations in 199 Cory. Those licenses have expired. Zemax on Servers (unsupported) ------------------------------ We installed Zemax on several Windows remote desktop servers: wserver1.eecs.berkeley.edu wserver2.eecs.berkeley.edu wserver3.eecs.berkeley.edu wserver4.eecs.berkeley.edu However, Zemax is not officially supported on servers by the vendor, so we could guarantee that it works there. In the past, users have run Zemax on our servers to do some basic things, but they could not display the design. See http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/pub.cgi?file=microsoft-rdc.help for instructions about how to login to those servers. Zemax Licenses -------------- Zemax nework licenses run on an Instructional server. They require a USB license key, which is on loan from the vendor and must be returned to them each year for renewal. They update it and return it to us.
