WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I grew up in Tampa, Florida my entire life. I attended Robinson High School (which you've probably never heard of). Currently, I am an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, majoring in EECS (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science). I came to CAL with no programming experience, and declared my major once I took CS10 and CS61A (Great classes!) HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? My first programming language was Scratch in CS10 last Fall semester. I also took CS3S (Introduction to Symbolic Programming -> Not offered anymore) learning Scheme, a dialect of Lisp. After my first semester, I became engulfed in the programming language world, and began learning some other languages on the side, such as Unix, SQL, HTML, and CSS. While I interned at Yahoo! over the summer, I learned extensive PHP, Javascript and Drupal Development. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? My hobbies include trying new restaurants, playing tennis, pranking my roommates, online sports gaming (NBA 2k11), and playing Scrabble or Words with Friends. Think you're pretty good? Add me on WWF: sam1rm (Disclaimer: I've only lost twice!) HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I've wandered off in Cozumel, Mexico while I was 12, lost track of time, and had the entire cruise + cops searching all over for me! WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? Aside from TAing CS10, I will be taking 18 credits (CS61B, Math 54, South Asian Studies R5A, Art 23AC, + Teaching CS concepts class). My other activities include: CS Education Research w/ Professor Dan Garcia, working part-time for a start-up in SF, and being the web developer for the Berkeley Political Review.
