WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I was born in China, but moved when I was 5. I went from San Luis Obispo, to Cerritos, to Cerritos, and then to Diamond Bar. During high school, I never even knew what school I wanted to go to, but when the final choice came, it was either Cal or Columbia, and everyone knows that Cal engineering is way better, so the choice was quite clear to me. I've been here ever since, and I don't plan to move for a while. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I didn't even know programming existed until I got into Berkeley. When I was picking majors for my college apps, I crossed out all the majors I didn't want, and that left me with Math, CS and Econ. I thought to my self "Hey, I stare at a computer all day anyways, I might as well be doing something cool with it." Since then, I've picked up, Scheme, Java and C from the 61 series, and Python from 188. I learned web development (HTML, Javascript, CSS and C#) during my summer internship. This semester, I'll be picking up database languages from 186. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? I was a lot of prime-time television shows even thought I don't have a TV (you know where to find it online). Recently I just picked up Big Bang Theory, a show that all engineers will be able to appreciate the most, but I also watch Scrubs and HIMYM. I also play random korean online games once in a while if I'm super bored. Besides slacking off in front of my computer, I do play badminton and ping-pong once in a while. Otherwise, it's mostly going to student group events with TBP & HKN. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I am double jointed in my elbow, so I can bend it at a 190 degree angle. My eating appetite also grows exponentially throughout the day. I (was) pretty decent at badminton, but I'm pretty out of practice at the moment. I used to play clarinet, but I have no musical knowledge about notes/chords/keys at all. I have also only lost 1 game (my first ever) in the original super smash bro for N64, so feel free to challenge me. I suck at melee and brawl though :( HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I was able to meet Lin Dan, the Olympic badminton champion a couple of years ago. Other than that, I think it was pretty amazing that I'm actually teaching a class as a Junior. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? This semster, I will be taking Database and Security for my techs, as well as Econ 101A and 101B for my double major. I'm also teaching E98, a student Decal, and CS3L for the very first time. Outside of class, I'm a student officer in HKN, TBP and the Tzu Chi Buddhist Organization. I also work for ETS, the department that does the webcasting. (I do bio 1A at 7:30am, so if the camera's not moving for a while, you know what happened.) Despite all this, my goal this semester is to get 6 hrs of sleep per night.
