Q: Where did you grow up? What was your path to Cal? A: Although I grew up in California, I've moved 6 major times (not that impressive actually--each time it was to a different place in the Bay Area. Including Berkeley). However, I associate myself with Cupertino and San Jose, which is where I lived for 14 years or so. As for choosing Cal, I knew that I was leaning towards math and science (and consequently engineering and CS), and Cal has amazing engineers and computer scientists that I look up to! I was also really impressed by Cal Day (the dining hall milk tastes good). Q: How much programming have you done (and what languages)? A: Admittedly, I have not done much programming. This might be a great boon: I remember what it is like to learn programming for the first time! Therefore, I may be able to give alternate, unusual (possibly in a good way?) explanations. Additionally, I would like to encourage those less confident in their programming skills. Before college, I had only programmed a little bit in Java (a slightly traumatic experience that I tried to forget and somewhat succeeded in forgetting), and proceeded to take CS61A my first semester at Cal. Guess what happened? I LOVED it. Since then, I've relearned Java (it was so different from what I remembered!) and grown fond of it. Q: What are your hobbies? What are some of your talents and skills? A: My main hobbies are reading (mostly science fiction), listening to music, and trying to stay fit. I like art (mostly 3D things). I'm OK at math? Q: Have you done anything remarkable? Has anything memorable happened to you? A: Memorable: At the moment, I can only think of the time when I was about five, and I got my foot caught in one of those four wheeled tourist bikes when my dad was still pedaling. Thankfully, I only got a bloody ankle and a nice woman gave me candy because she felt sorry for me. I still have a scar that I wish was slightly more noticeable. Remarkable: That depends on your opinion. I suppose I am proud of the time I ran 9 miles nonstop (incredibly slowly; I'm talking hours), because as someone untalented at running, I never thought that I was capable of it. Guess that goes to say that effort and determination get you places! Q: What commitments will be consuming your cycles this summer? A: Besides TAing CS61A, I'll be taking another class and trying to increase my programming knowledge and experience. And hobbies. :)
