2010-06-24 Submitting Homework, the Newsgroup, and the Class Mailing List

We have finally fixed the homework submission scripts, if you have already submitted your homework before 6/24/2010 at 10:00 PM please resubmit.

INFO ABOUT SUBMITTING HOMEWORK: you can submit homework by moving into the directory where your homework files are located on the school servers and typing the command "submit [assignment name]" (where you replace [assignment name] with something like hw1). You may resubmit as many times as you want before the homework deadline. The submission script will fail if you do not use the filenames we've told you to use for submission and it will notify you of this. Once we've graded the assignment you'll be able to see your grade by typing the command "glookup" into a terminal on a school computer.

INFO ABOUT THE NEWSGROUP: the newsgroup is the best place to get any questions you have about the course answered by the staff and other students. The easiest way to connect to the newsgroup is to use the web client provided by the school located at http://inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/webnews and log in with your class account. You will not be signed up for our newsgroup when you log in for the first time. In order to subscribe to the cs61c newsgroup, click the change subscriptions button, type "ucb.class.cs61c" without the quotes into the text box, and click Submit. You can talk to your TA if you'd like to use a newsreader such as thunderbird instead.

INFO ABOUT THE NEW CLASS MAILING LIST: We now have a class mailing list, which will most likely be used to send out important messages regarding the class. You should have received an email saying you've been subscribed to the mailing list. If you have not received this email, you can sign up for the class mailing list by going to http://calmail.berkeley.edu/manage/list/ and signing yourself up for the list cs61c-su10@lists.berkeley.edu.

2010-06-22 Lab1 Update

Due to a variety of problems, many of you guys weren't able to finish the lab early (or at all) today. As a result, we will accept Lab1 on Thursday and give everyone the bonus point for that lab.

Also, since we were unable to have you guys register your accounts to your name in lab, we have posted instructions for registering your account on the newsgroup. You must register your account to make use of the glookup and submit systems for the homeworks and labs.
