Name: Alex Chou E-mail: chou.alexander@berkeley.edu Mini-Biography: ============== --> Where did you grow up? What was your academic path? (e.g. Did you live in the same town all your life or did you move around; and if so, where? Did you go to community college or another school before this one?) I grew up in socal, in Rowland Heights, CA and moved to Walnut, CA (not Walnut Creek) when I was in middle school. I came in to Cal as a Math major, but in my second year, I took CS61A and enjoyed it and decided to become a Math and Computer Science double major! --> How much programming have you done (and what languages)? I learned some Java in my Junior year of high school, but didn't pick it back up again until my second year at Cal. I have learned Python, Java, and C, but I have also worked with Matlab, PHP, Javascript, and HTML/CSS --> What are your hobbies? What are some of your talents and skills? I'm a big fan of manga, anime, and Pokemon and I have been trying to get more into games (anything that sounds interesting!). Some manga / anime I really like are: One Piece, Anohana, and Toriko, but there are pleny others I enjoy. :) Feel free to ask! Something that I do enjoy to do when I'm home is to cook and bake. I don't really do it as much at school because of the lack of time, but we'll see how much time I have this semester! --> Have you done anything remarkable? Has anything really memorable happened to you? (e.g. travel, meeting famous people, 15 min of fame, inventions, overcoming adversity, etc.) At Cal, I used to be the Executive for Tzu Chi (a Taiwanese volunteer organization). Also, recently, I put my first desktop together, which was an exciting first experience for me! --> What commitments will be consuming your cycles this term? (e.g. classes, jobs, family, commutes, volunteering, sports, student groups, etc.) This term, I will mainly be focusing on classes and TAing, but I plan to try and read some more books as well! I will probably be doing some volunteer on the weekends as well.
