WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I grew up in Albany, CA, so I haven't come very far from home by attending Cal. I graduated as salutatorian from Albany High School in spring 2006, and started at Cal that fall. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I've programmed a fair amount. I've taken 7 CS classes, and the largest project that I have worked on in class is the Nachos project in CS162. Outside of class, I am part of the Clotho development team. Clotho is a set of software tools for synthetic biologists. My first language was BASIC, although I don't speak it anymore. I am currently fluent in Java, C, C++, Python, Scheme, and Matlab. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? I enjoy running, classical piano, taekwondo, and origami. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I am fairly time efficient, and I solve problems quickly. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? As part of summer research competition teams, I have won awards at iGEM (the International Genetically Engineering Machines competition). In 2008, I was part of the UC Berkeley wetlab team, and our team was one of six finalists out of 84 teams. In 2009, I was on the UC Berkeley software team, and our team shared the division award of Best Software Tool with University of Illinois team. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? I'll be graduating at the end of this semester, but I still need to pass the last few major requirements to do so. Other than my classes, I would like to visit any graduate schools where I've been accepted. Lastly, I will be job hunting in the case that I am not accepted into any graduate schools...
