WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR ACADEMIC PATH? I lived in the city of Jinan in Shandong province of China up until when I was about 9 years old, when I moved to San Francisco. I've been in the Bay Area ever since, so Cal was a convenient college for me. I attended Lowell High School in SF before coming here. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? Eh. It's hard to quantify. I started taking some programming classes towards the end of high school. It's hard to avoid doing much programming since I am majoring in EECS after all... I'm not one of those people who love to take up hobby programming projects in their spare time, but I have done a fair amount outside of what's required in my classes here for the past 2 and a half years. I've used various languages in the past, Java probably the most, but if I had to pick a favorite it'd be Python. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? Typical stuff. I enjoy film and literature, and of course, videogames (though I find myself with less and less time to sit down and play through a game for hours at a time). There was a time when I played some badminton, but again, not much nowadays due to time constraints. Randomly browsing the internet for oddities is something I do often. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I'm a pretty boring person by most standards. I can't really think of anything, but I'm pretty well-rounded and tend to do above average in just about anything I try my hand at, despite that not being a skill. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? No, see above. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? TAing, obviously. I'm also committed to 15+ hours a week for a part- time internship at Sybase. I've been doing some research assistance work for a grad student and will continue to, and maybe find other research work. Classes are to be determined, I hope I can get in CS270.
