WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I was born in New York but I moved to the bay area at a fairly young age due to my father's job and have thus far spent most of my life in Cupertino/San Jose, CA. I got used to hearing my dad talk everyday about his work as an computer engineer that with the combination for my love of video games, and I was determined from middle school that I wanted to study computer science related to AI/machine learning/game theory. I came to Cal in 2012 and I expect to graduate in spring 2016. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I've programmed since I was in high school where I first learned C++, Java, and Perl, but not as much compared my time here at Cal. Overall, I have learned (in no particular order) python, Java, C, C++, MATLAB, Javascript, Bash, Perl, and R. Overall, my favorite language would have to be python...but that could probably change in a couple years. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? I love playing games (video, card, board, etc), but mainly Starcraft 2 and the occasional game of Saboteur. I also enjoy playing and watching sports especially baseball and football. (I'm a big New York Yankees fan) I also love re-watching the tv show, FRIENDS. Best show ever. Also, as of recently, I've had an unhealthy addiction to puzzles and dragons. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I have some skill in chess and I have a knack for making really bad jokes that some call me Chandler Bing. (watch FRIENDS for reference) HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? Nothing that I can think of. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? In addition to TA-ing, I will be spending the rest of my time doing research. I work in Miki Lustig's lab under Pat Virtue (who is lecturing for cs188 over the summer) where we work on trying to apply machine learning techniques for compressed sensing MRI such as trying to segment, reconstruct, and clean MR images.
