For problem #1: do not use the method presented in chapter 8 of the text (the large signal/small signal analysis); instead, just crank through it "the hard way" (as in lecture 22) using the MOS current equation in chapter 4.
In fact, this problem is pretty much the exact same analysis done in lecture by Prof. Howe; the only difference is that the device is a PMOS instead of an NMOS.
