Equipment Notes

In 2000 we purchased new RC cars, motors, and servos.

Car Kits (Bolink Sport 2000 purchased from Tower Hobbies for $58)
The Bolink Sport 2000 is less expensive and not as robust as the previous off-road truck bodies that were used last year, but its design is simple, light, and probably more efficent on carpet and tile.

Motors (Associated Fire Hawk Plus ROAR Stock Motor purchased from Tower Hobbies for $24)
Since we purchased new car kits, we decided to get new motors too.  These motors came with two additional, serrated brushes, which are supposed to be better for onroad racing than the default brushes (at least according to the web page :).

Servos (Multiplex mc/V2 Servos purchased from RC Country for $75)
Each group will start with a standard, non-digital servo worth about $10 each.  This way it will cost the lab less money if a group accidentally breaks one of the servos (though $10 is still a lot of money, so don't try breaking them deliberately).  Eventually, each group will have the option to upgrade to a mc/V2 digital servo, which is supposed to be faster and deliver more torque.
