HW 1
1. each part worth, 0.3, all or nothing b. 2 points all or nothing; some confusion between implementation with logic gates and a circuit diagram with switches
2a. Each graph worth 0.6, if the graph was flipped -0.4, no units or labels -0.2, no values -0.2 ; THIS WAS A HUGE PROBLEM. please remind them to LABEL their axis and show the UNITS in parentheses, e.g. Iout (mA), they also need to show values on both the X and Y axis, writing values at the intercepts would also be very helpful. Also, remind the students to plot I on the y-axis and V on the x-axis (no points were taken off for that). Many students also flipped their graphs, they should check the references of Vout and Iout on the circuit diagram.
b. students needed Pout, Ps, and Pr, and to show conservation for each of the 3 parts, -0.2 for each if it was wrong in magnitude. lots of confusion with this problem too. students need to know a negative number means power is delivered and positive number for power absorbed ONLY for passive sign convention. I don't know if they're supposed to assume passive sign convention, but they should specify where power is delivered and where it is absorbed. Many students mixed up the signs and did not specify if power was delivered or absorbed (they were docked off 0.2 for each part).
Also, for some reason students didn't bother to at least say energy was conserved. some just said energy is conserved(we didn't take off credit for these people) , but next time they should show some work
