1Aug 20, 2009 5:39 AMFurther cross-department faculty availability during visit days. Notify faculty from other departments, help to arrange meetings, if possible.
2Aug 20, 2009 7:40 AMAt MIT, they scheduled regular meetings with the professors I was interested in talking to, but also choose some other professors that were not on my list (and not necessarily related to my area of research) that they thought I might find interesting. In the end, I found these "random" meetings very helpful and interesting.

4Aug 21, 2009 3:29 AMDo it earlier so that international students can attend, too. Most international students have VISA restrictions, so that can't come to the USA earlier than a month before school starts.

6Aug 25, 2009 10:01 PMAgain, make it easier to get paid back for travel expenses. UC Berkeley was by far the most difficult in this regard.
7Aug 25, 2009 11:38 PMThey should have t-shirts or sweatshirts sized appropriately for women. I ended up giving my sweatshirt to my boyfriend. It fit him right, and he is 10" and 80lbs heavier than me. It was the smallest size!
