#Response DateOther (please specify)
Aug 19, 2009 6:31 PMworkload
Aug 20, 2009 5:29 AMWriting thesis :(
Aug 20, 2009 5:58 AMnot being able to pursue my desired research direction without jeapordizing my graduate career
Aug 20, 2009 8:11 AMSoul crushing guilt when not doing work.
Aug 20, 2009 3:22 PMNot knowing how to do research, but having to learn how on my own due to advisor being unavailable. Some faculty expressing a lack of confidence in my undergraduate education.
Aug 20, 2009 4:48 PMBerkeley is a unique place (the city and overall school more so than the department) and I don't quite fit.
Aug 20, 2009 5:39 PMlack of guidance from advisor
Aug 22, 2009 6:30 PMI am interested in inter-disciplinary work but somehow I feel that the requirements set by the department are not favoring this line of thought.
Aug 24, 2009 3:57 PMsometimes too much work, both courses and research.
Aug 25, 2009 9:14 PMAs an MSE professor said, "We've solved all the easy questions and left you the hard ones." The Microlab needs a LOT of money poured into it for reasonable device research to be possible. We are very behind Stanford/MIT.
Aug 25, 2009 9:45 PMimpostor syndrome; funding has been more difficult since my advisor retired
Aug 25, 2009 9:51 PMthere are not enough classes on offer. I feel like every semester there are 2 classes in my area, and often I have taken them both. More 294's please.
Aug 25, 2009 10:14 PMIf you don't have an advisor chosen when you come in, you can expect life at Berkeley to be extremely hard. I really don't think it has to be that way.
Aug 25, 2009 10:23 PMHeavy Workload. Advisor's great, I'm just always busy.
Aug 25, 2009 11:42 PMstress about research topic
Aug 26, 2009 4:29 AMDifficulties determining what area exactly I wish to do work in.
Aug 26, 2009 5:08 AMdifficulties with motivation. no structure provided by the department; even when I ask for it.
