TITLE: Assistant II (4921)
EMPLOYER: EECS
SUPERVISOR: Manager of Instructional Systems Group
HOURS: 49% (up to 18 hrs/week)
SALARY: depending on skill, up to $12.00/hr
DESCRIPTION: Provide technical support for computers in EECS instructional
labs and for software used by EECS instructors and classes.
Responsibilities include: systems administration of Windows and UNIX;
installation and testing of computer hardware and software on Windows and
UNIX. May include software development in programming environments such
as scm, stk, gdb, gcc, c++, java, perl, cvs, csh, sh, bash.
Patrol the instructional labs, repair printer and workstations if possible.
Report problems to the larger sys admin group. Do weekend lab checks (2-4
hours on Saturday or Sunday). Provide user consulting by email and in
person to students and instructors.
Reports to Manager of Instructional Group. Office is in Cory Hall.
QUALIFICATIONS:
UCB Computer Science major or equivalent; excellent written and verbal
communications skills; experience in UNIX, Windows and MacOCX systems
adminstration, experience programming in a variety of computer languages
and environments. B+ or better in CS61A.
