$Revision: 5.0.2.4 $
Package: EXCL
Arguments: (fundamental-input-stream
sequence)
The nongeneric functions cl:read-sequence and cl:write-sequence are implemented by calling this generic function and stream-write-sequence. Methods are defined for these functions that handle all legal calls, but not all legal calls will have highly efficient execution. The existing methods will handle non-simple vector sequence arguments efficiently, and will also handle start and end arguments efficiently. The Allegro CL implementation will also accept and efficiently transfer data to and from higher-dimension arrays in the usual row-major order, although this is an extension to the language and not defined by the X3J13 specification. (The portable way to do this is to displace a vector to the higher-rank array.)
The implementation contains optimized methods for input and output (but not bidirectional) file-streams of all element types.
See streams.htm for general information on streams in Allegro CL.
The general documentation description is in introduction.htm. The index in index.htm.
