A new product release was expected around May 2001. Infini-D was a 3-D modeling, rendering and animation system from MetaCreations Inc (http://www.metacreations.com). It was last available in Fall 1999, when it was used by CS39A. (Fall 1999) Infini-D 4.5 was installed in all Mac and WinNT systems in 111 Cory. There is an incompatibility between Infini-D 4.5 and Quicktime 4.0 Pro that prevented rendering to the Quicktime format under Windows 4.0. MetaCreations (former owner) did not provided any help for this. It was still possible to render to .AVI format on the Windows NT systems. This was our problem report (Oct 1999): | When trying to render to QuickTime 4 Pro movie format, using Infini-D 4.5 | on Windows NT 4.0, Infini-D stops with the error | | The instruction at "0x66a428f7" referenced memory | at "0x00000022". The memory could not be "read". | | A debugger further identifies the cause as an "access violation" on the | file c:\Winnt\system32\quicktime.qts". This happens even if the user has | full admin privileges on the computer (ie full access to all folders and | files.) | | We are able to render to .AVI without a problem, and we are able to read | and save a QuickTime movie using QuickTime 4 Pro. We checked the Meta- | Creations WEB site for any related info. Questions to "inst@berkeley.edu". Licensing --------- In July 1999, Instruction upgraded 5 existing licenses and purchased 10 more licenses for Infini-D 4.5, for use in 111 Cory and 564 Soda. The vendor is MetaCreations 6303 Carpinteria Ave Carpinteria CA 93013 (805) 566-6200 (805) 566-6385 (FAX) Manuals ------- A set of manuals is Infini-D User's Manual ($19.95) Infini-D Tutorial Manual ($19.95) There will be 1 set of manuals in 564 Soda and 2 sets in 111 Cory.
