Synchronous Digital Hardware Systems
- Synchronous
- "Clocked" --- all changes in the system are controlled by
a global clock (not asynchronous)
- Digital
- All inputs/outputs and internal variables (signals) take
on discrete values (not analog)
example: sound waveform
- In an "analog" system voltage or current is used to represent the
value of the signal at any point in time.
- In a "digital" system a series of numbers is used.
