The Vertigo Shot

Summary

After placing the object in a scene with a deep view. Adjust FoV each time while moving towards the object. As we decrease the focal length, the FoV increases and we need to move towards the object to keep the size of the object in the picture the same. Used Nikon D3200 with lens with focal length 18-200mm. The main problem I faced is that, at first I tried to capture a scene with the object on the desk. The effect was not obvious enough because the scene is too shallow and only the projective distortion of the desk can be seen.

Summary

Generally my algorithm works great! I used the sum of x and y gradient of the grayscaled images as the weight. And then implement a DP algorithm to find the seam and remove it. The examples that don't work are generally having some important structure spaning the whole picture and the carving ratio is too high.
