Face Morphing

This is Brad Edwards and me. Brad used to be a principal engineer on my team last summer. We were hanging out a lot: bowling, karaoke, book club, sushi lunches, keto ice cream, meat donuts. Also, we are connected on LinkedIn, so this is real!

The midway picture has a ghosty effect because I only used 56 points for triangulation. By annotating clothes, we can achieve a smoother morphing.

Mean Face

I selected a Russian soccer squad as a population for this part of the project. I manually labeled 150x150 pictures from the official website to find out how does the average player looks. Below you can see an average goalkeeper, average field player, and the whole team average. Notice that the team with the goalie is happier on average.


Now I'm going to warp myself into the average geometry of a Russian soccer player! And also do the opposite thing. Let's imagine how would an average Russian soccer player look with my face shape.

The problem is in drastically different proportions (and the low quality of my annotations since I only used 27 points). However, I think that the rightmost picture looks good, at least by Fifa06 standarts. To mitigate that, I picked a player from a women squad, and repeated the experiment.

Notice that the rightmost picture became happier. Let's try a diffent annotation!

Fixed! it's not happy anymore.
