Past Annoucements:
- 3-6-97
- Machine news!!! If you have requested to mount the binary to your machine, it is now ready. Add this line to your /etc/vfstab (if you are running solaris): test0:/disks/test0/a/cns - /disks/test0/a/cns nfs 0 yes bg,rw,nosuid
- 3-6-97
- For more space, look under /share/i/cs250/sp97/class. There is no disk quota there and cadence daemom is running.
- 3-5-97
- For more help on spice netlist extraction and pathmill, please see the commonly-asked-question section in lab3
- 3-4-97
- To address the small disk quota problem, the sysadmins have given
the class additional working space on another disk, at
/home/j/cs250/sp97/class/cs250-??. There is no quota on
that disk.
- 2-26-97
- There will be a tool discussion tomorrow on the entire tool flow.
Place 405 Soda and time 6:00pm. Pizza will be served. Bring your own
drink.
- 2-26-97
- For those of you who are struggling with the slow machines in 347
and 349 Soda, please don't worry about turning in the lab exactly on time.
We will relax the late penalty for lab 3.
- 2-25-97
- New files in ~cs250/labs/lab3 done.
- 2-25-97
- A pretty bad bug has been found in the given files in lab3.
As it is, samcntl
is built from negative edge flip-flops, and samdp is built from
positive edge flip-flops. Miraculously, it escaped detection by actually
working with the old test bed. However, I believe that many of you are
having trouble with your Synopsys output because of that. Because the
standard cell libraries contain only positive edge flip-flops, those
are the only ones that should be used in sam. The test bed must
also be updated to repect the positive clock edge instead of the
negative clock edge as it did before. I (Will) will be
hacking on a good version, and will put it in ~cs250/labs/lab3 when I
am done.
- 2-25-97
- If you would like to mount the cad tool binary, please let Randy know
by 5pm today. Because Cadence does not support alpha, we will only support
sun4, sun5 and hp.
- 2-24-97
- Please use the ~cs250/lib/techfile/scmos-scn3m_subm-03.tf technology file instead.
- 2-14-97
- Commonly-asked-questions section are constantly being updated under the lab3 web page
- 2-14-97
- Synopsis is working. Have fun.
- 2-12-97, 11pm
- Network to license server for Cadence (nexus.eecs) just went down. Lab
2 is extended to Saturday, midnight.
- 2-11-97
- Late policy for Lab 2: -10% for every day late after Thursday.
Weekends count as one day.
- Test program statreg.spert should never have been in the test
- 2-10-97
- Test program statreg.spert should never have been in the test
suite. It has been removed. Please recopy the scripts.
- 2-10-97
- Test program timings are posted in Appendix D under Lab 2.
- 2-9-97
- All of the really long test programs, such as div.spert, have
been removed from the test suite. The files in
~cs250/rcore/src/rtlsim/scripts have been updated accordingly.
Please use the new test suite for Lab 2.
- 2-7-97
- Will will be gone until Sunday.
- 2-7-97
- For Lab 2, Appendix B (RCORE Instruction Encodings) and Appendix C
(Schematic Screen Grabs) are completed. The page that would
not print out in the RCORE Engineering Manual is covered in
Appedix B. Appendix C is put up by request; I don't know how useful
it would be.
- 2-6-97
- icds works. A few things have changed from the original Lab
2 web page. In the section titled More Cadence
Tools, you should redo paragrah 2 if you have done it already (copying
~cs250/adm/cs250.cdsinit to your home directory as ~/.cdsinit);
and you should skip paragraph 3, because the library rcore should
appear in the library browser automatically.
- 2-1-97
- Besides for icds not working, Lab 2 is ready.
- 1-31-97
- Please set your permissions so that other students can't copy labwork from
you (to rwx------)! Having to dealing with cheating can put everyone in a
really bad mood!
- 1-30-97
-
For some reason, many of your accounts are configured so that the
delete key functions as the interupt signal generator instead of the
familiar ^C. If you want to fix this, type:
- 1-29-97
- Some machines have trouble bringing up Openbook. warren.cs
is one of them.
- 1-29-97
- Mistakes on Lab 1 fixed. They were: 2 arrows on the FSM were
pointing in the wrong direction, and SRLV should take x+1
cycles to execute, not y+1 cycles.
- 1-27-97
- The schematic of the shift and add multiplier is meant as a hint. It
actually has quite a few small errors.
- 1-27-97
- The cadence license has been updated. The due date for homework 1 has been postponed to Sat 11am, Feb 1st.
- 1-23-97
- Class accounts work. Running clients doesn't. The list of available
computers is here.
- 1-23-97
- Card key access is now handled at the front desk of Soda Hall. Each student needs to fill out a form there to gain access to the rooms.
- 1-22-97
- If you have not gotten a cs250 class account, please see Will in 441 Soda.
