WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I was born in San Jose and moved to Fremont during second grade. I attended Mission San Jose High School and decided to follow in my brother's footsteps to the LAND OF THE GOLDEN BEARS, although honestly, I had no idea what I wanted as a major. However, I knew what I did not want to do, so I narrowed my choices and took a myriad of classes during my first semester, one of which was CS3! The awesomeness of the class persuaded me to become a CS major, and, well, we'll see what happens afterwards :) HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? In high school, I created those cool little programs on my TI-83+ (which is now probably outdated) to help me solve those notorious SAT problems. I can't say I learned much programming from those programs, but they definitely allowed me to see how computationally quick computers are versus humans. Trust me--computers are FAST! I learned Java, C, Python, and several other languages in college, but I'm thinking of trying to 'master' Python just for the fun of it. Judging by everyone else's bio, I think that it's a good idea! WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? The Office. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I've played the piano for several years now, and I decided to learn the guitar during my freshman year of college. I'm not particularly good at either instrument because I don't practice enough, but strumming a couple of chords works wonders when it comes to relieving stress. :] HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I shouted "GO BEARS!" in Dan's 61c lecture before, and he got pumped up enough to make one side of the room shout "GO!" and the other side shout "BEARS!" for three iterations. It's somewhere on webcast! http://webcast.berkeley.edu/course_details.php?seriesid=1906978347 WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? I've taken most of the CS courses that interested me, so my class load is not that heavy this semester. However, I'm doing research for Professor Sequin, TA-ing this class, and applying to graduate school, so my life is pretty hectic right now. I'm also the President and Industrial Liaison for UPE, the CS Honor Society, so I'm pretty busy setting up infosessions and meetings. I need more cycles! AHH!
