WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I grew up in Pleasanton, California. You might recognize it as one of the stops for BART. It's not really an interesting place though. There's a mall and an IMAX movie theater there. I went to Amador Valley High School. The school is famous for its Competition Civics team (#2 in the nation). I graduated, and now I'm at Berkeley -- a second year undergraduate EECS major. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? First programming language I was ever exposed to was BASIC. That was at some summer Computer Camp around when I was in a first year in middle school. I didn't REALLY learn a language until senior year of highschool when I took AP Computer Science AB -- and that language was Java. Then at Berkeley, I learned Scheme when I took CS61A, C and Perl when I took CS61C, and Python when I used it last summer. I know some web dev languages: html, css, javascript, php. I learned those through online tutorials. I love Scheme, but its easier to program something useful in Python. By the way, I'm an emacs pro, so if you want to know some useful emacs shortcuts, talk to me. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? I like playing ultimate frisbee and badminton (I'm not good at either). I also like playing video games and card games (particularly Bridge). And, I enjoy watching football. Go Bears! WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? Hmm... I can play the alto saxophone. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I haven't done anything that exciting. I did, however, watch all three seasons of Arrested Development in less than a week if you can count that as something remarkable. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? I am a TA for 2 sections of CS3L -- 12 hours of lab a week. In addition to that, I am taking 3 classes: CS70, EE40, and CS188. I am the exam files officer for HKN, an EECS student group. I also have tutoring office hours.
