CRITIQUES
Sylvain:
dragon -- good lighting (illumination in background) motion is captured
well.
turns
-- nice color + geometry.
Jie:
steve -- photo has a green tint due to fluorescent lighting--use a filter
or different type of film to compensate glass vase doesn't work to frame
the picture--it's more of a distraction desk is also a distraction--solution:
crop out the vase and desk good demonstration of depth of field--people
in background are not distracting, but they're still distinguishable.
vase
-- good ambient lighting--very whimsical indeed.
Megan:
watercan 3 -- could underexpose a bit more so that black areas are completely
black (won't lose any texture because the watercan has no texture to
begin with)
use a fill-in flash, urn the can to see the handle--right now it reads
as an obscure mass; handle provides a more interesting silhouette is
the diagonal line/pipe in the background necessary--all elements need
to contribute to the composition.
banister
-- focus on the curve of the rail was a good choice stooping down/changing
positions would have produced a better composition crop the left to
emphasize curve vertical rails in the background lead the eye up towards
the windows exaggerate the blurriness of the background--right now it's
ambiguous whether or not they should be in focus.
George:
1 -- this photo tells a good story--leaves the story open to interpretation
by the viewer keeping one person in focus is a good idea in this case
(preferably the guy because the girl is too close--camera would lose
too much focus on the guy if it were focused on the girl).
2
-- this has better lighting on the male subject, but composition is
weaker than the previous photo good to show the context, but in this
case, the details are extraneous and distracting girl is too out of
focus.
Karen:
ladybug 1 -- a photographer/artist sees things that other people overlook
depth of field "poster child".
Caitlin:
car 1 -- depth of field refers to a PLANE of focus, not just one object
in the composition since the ornament is the focus of this picture,
it should cover more "real estate" in the overall composition.
eagle
1 -- in the picture, the lines of the building are visible and distracting--fix
this by moving in closer and using a wider angle.
