WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I was born in Paterson, New Jersey, but I moved around a lot when I was younger. I lived in New York, Chicago, and even in San Francisco for a while (although I still consider New Jersey as my home state). When I was in Middle School, my family relocated abroad to Shanghai, China, where I spent most of my adolescence and high school years. After graduating, I came to Cal to study computer science and am now going on my third year here. HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I've have had programming experience since high school when I took AP Computer Science, but I only really began to seriously program when I came here to Cal. Ever since, I've learned a lot and even begun to work on my own side projects and apps. I'm most familiar with Java, as it is the language I started programming in and have had the most experience with, and it is probably my most preferred language. I am also pretty familiar in most other C languages like C, C++, and C#. Other languages I know include Python, Scheme, MIPs, HTML, and Javascript, as well as a bit of Ruby on Rails. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? Although I don't have as much free time as I used to, I have a lot of hobbies I like to keep up with. Ever since I was really young, I enjoyed playing video games, and my favorite genres are definitely tied between action-RPG, and turn-based strategy. I also enjoy reading, especially hard science fiction, as well as drawing (even though I'm not really good at it). I really enjoy playing basketball and baseball too, and to de-stress, I often go for long jogs. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I've played cello for around eight years now and still like to practice every once in a while. I can also juggle (poorly), as well as rock climb (even worse). Also, based off of my friends' opinions, I make really good sandwiches. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I've traveled around to a lot of places, including London, Singapore, Toronto, and all over the US and China. I was also a part of my school's symphony orchestra, and played at a lot of concerts, including one for a production of the Nutcracker Suite performed by a professional theater troupe. Additionally, I was the captain of our school's robotics team, and we competed in the FTC robotics tournament. We didn't place very high, unfortunately, but it was the first competition for our school and it was definitely a great experience. WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? Other than tutoring CS61c, I'll also be taking summer classes here at Berkeley (namely Art 8). I'll also be working part time as a software developer for the Learning Design Group up at the Lawrence Hall of Science in the hills above campus. I also have some of my own projects going on, including building my own website. Of course, I'll also be spending time with both family and friends, enjoying the summer weather!
