WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO CAL? I grew up in a peaceful neighbourhood in Toronto, Canada. Hadn't really spent much time thinking about my future while I was in high school until university application time came, when my parents were insistent on me attending an American college (which works, because I was born in the U.S.). Berkeley seemed like a nice place to go because it's very far away from home (YAY!), as I wanted to gain some independence. Kind of silly of a reason, eh? HOW MUCH PROGRAMMING HAVE YOU DONE (& WHAT LANGUAGES)? I started programming in high school 'introduction to computer science' classes, which started in gr. 10. I didn't have enough course space for it in grade 10, so I skipped that class (which covered python) and started in grade 11 (Java). At Cal, I've completed the 61 series. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? I've always enjoyed various arts (visual, music, and performance), which led to participation in various music/dance groups, learning instruments, enrolling in an art program, and a growing interest in graphic and web design. I also enjoy (and spend way too much time on) games, mostly League of Legends, Hearthstone, and CS GO, all of which I am fairly bad at~ I am always happy to play with anyone or discuss art/music with anyone interested! WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS? I've learned several instruments in the past, including voice, piano (15+ years), flute, ukulele, and erhu (which I only recently picked up from a DeCal here at Cal!). I am also experienced in using the Adobe suite, 2D flash animation, and tried 3D modeling and animation. Personally, I think my special talent is messing up my sleep (sleeping from 6am-3pm is normal, right?) and eating (breakfast at 5pm! why is nothing open for lunch at 1am on westside? :c ) schedules. HAVE YOU DONE ANYTHING REMARKABLE? HAS ANYTHING MEMORABLE HAPPENED TO YOU? I'm not all that remarkable, but some of my most memorable times were in high school when I simultaneously led the Yearbook Committee and Physics Club while participating in Show Choir, the Game Development Team, and an art program. That was the time when I met the most new people and stepped out of my comfort zone, building the confidence I have today! WHAT COMMITMENTS WILL BE CONSUMING YOUR CYCLES THIS SEMESTER? I am currently taking Psychology 188 (Psychology of Sleep) and will be Reading for CS61C. After my class ends (early July), I will be going home to Toronto to continue my currently messed up schedules of too much gaming, unproductively, and more unhealthy habits!
