Pitch is the perceived frequency of a sound. Pitch and frequency do not necessarily correspond; in the case of a sound consisting of the sum of 2 kHz, 3 kHz, 4 kHz, and 5 kHz sinusoids, the listener ``hears'' a 1 kHz tone.
