All 'Hands On' Policy

The goal of EE 43 is for every student to become comfortable and confident in operating electronic test equipment and conducting experiments. Be sure that you participate in wiring circuits, know how to operate the equipment, take your own data, and make your own observations. The TA's will be looking for your hands to be on the experiment about half the time as about half of your grade will be based on participation (and not just a report with your lab partners numbers in it). If you are a 'hot-shot' with electronics, be sure to step aside so that your partner has the opportunity to become competent as well (even though it may take more time to complete the experiment).

General Lab Policy:

In an effort to complete the laboratory experiments in a fair manner by all students the following policies will be utilized.

1) The Prelab Report should be placed in the collection box as you enter the door. The box will be removed at 15 minutes after the hour and missing Prelabs will be given zero credit.

2) The TA's will give a short presentation starting at 10 after the hour aimed at covering the quintessence of the lab with special information on 'hot spot' problems. Students who make excessive requests to repeat this information will receive low marks for lab participation.

3) About midway in the lab the TA may adjust the scope such that a typical lab student will be able to complete the lab in 2 hours.

4) Students who do not complete the lab should request that the TA place their papers in the course cabinet and may return during another EE 42 lab session to complete their lab. However, the lab must be completed prior to the beginning of the students next regularly scheduled laboratory or be graded as it stands.

5) For a passing grade students are expected to have an cumulative average of correctly completing 67% of the lab material. Students not maintaining this average will be required to complete additional lab experiments to accumulate a sufficient passing knowledge of electronics.
