Nu Tic-Tac-Toe is a two-player game invented by Harry D. Ruderman, a mathematician from New York City. It can be learned in less than one minute, and is made for people of all ages.

The Board

Nu Tic-Tac-Toe is played on a five-row, four-column grid.

The Pieces

The first player controls four X-pieces and the second player controls four O-pieces. At the start of the game, the pieces are arranged on the board as follows:

Rules

To move: Slide one of your pieces left, right, up, or down, but not diagonally, to an adjacent empty cell. Pieces may not jump and there are no captures in this game.

To win: Form a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal contiguous line of three of your pieces.
