Description: LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment from National Instruments that is designed to help engineers and scientists visualize, create, and code engineering systems and ensure the quality of connected devices. It is widely used in engineering, physics and chemistry.

MULTISIM is graphical circuit design software from National Instruments that includes the SPICE simulation environment and produces printed circuit board (PCB) designs.

LabVIEW Licensing

The Colleges of Engineering and of Letters & Sciences (Physics and the Space Sciences Lab) are sponsoring licenses for UC Berkeley faculty, staff and students on both university-owned and personally-owned computers. There is currently no charge to those individuals for licenses.

This WEB site is for the licenses only. Users should seek technical support from their own desktop support staff or from the National Instruments WEB site.

This WEB site can also be accessed from https://software.berkeley.edu/labview.

License Categories and Types

  • Students may download versions for Windows, Macs and Linux and a 1-year license key.

  • Faculty, Researchers and Staff may download versions for Windows, Macs and Linux and a multi-year license key. Computing labs and other university-owned computers may also use our networked floating license server.

LabVIEW and NI hardware technical support:

    With UC Berkeley's LabVIEW license, all faculty, researchers, and students have access to NI's Application Engineering support team. All users are encouraged to leverage the LabVIEW training resources (see "Training options" section below) and vast support resources included in LabVIEW and on ni.com before reaching out to NI's technical support engineers, but that is included if immediate technical assistance is needed.
