Week 7 Announcements

  1. Homework: Homework 3 will be released later this week.
  2. Lab:
    • The Lab 2 deadline has been extended to Monday, 3/4, to account for Ed being locked.
    • Lab 3 will be released early next week.
    • Directed portions of all labs must be done individually.
    • Open-ended portions of all labs must be done in groups of two or three.
  3. Examinations:
    • Midterm 1 is today; we wish you the best!
    • Please make it to the exam venue by 11 am.
    • Please refrain from discussing the exam until Ed is unlocked and solutions are released. We have students taking the exam at a later time due to exceptional circumstances.
  4. Ed:
    • Ed Discussion will be locked to only allow private posts starting ~10:55 am today, 2/27.
    • Tentatively, we plan to unlock on Thursday evening, 2/29.
    • Please refrain from discussing the exam until Ed is unlocked and solutions are released. We have students taking the exam at a later time due to exceptional circumstances.
  5. Discussion and OH: Discussion sections have been cancelled this week, OH will run as usual. The calendar and course schedule have been updated.

  1. Project:
    • We will be holding Project Discussion/Feedback OH with Professor Fletcher and the GSIs on Wednesday, 2/28 in the regular discussion slot. Swing by if you'd like to discuss your ideas!
    • We will have proposal presentations and feedback in section on Wednesday, 3/06, and Wednesday, 3/20.
      • 4 groups will present on each day. We will be sending out a schedule later this week.
      • Each group will get ~12 mins. Presentation should be ~8 mins long, leaving ~4 mins for feedback.
  2. Paper Readings: No paper readings to be discussed until 3/20.
  3. Examinations:
    • Midterm 1 is today; we wish you the best!

Week 5/6 Announcements

  1. Homework:
    1. Homework 1 solutions will be released as soon as all extensions and slip days are up.
    2. Homework 2 is due Wednesday, 2/21.
      1. It is in-scope for Midterm 1.
      2. Late submissions won't be accepted beyond Saturday, 2/24. Solutions will be released right after.
  2. Lab:
    1. Lab 2 has been released and is due Thursday, 2/29.
    2. Directed portions of all labs must be done individually.
    3. Open-ended portions of all labs must be done in groups of two or three.
  3. Examinations:
    1. Midterm 1 is during the regular lecture slot on Tuesday, 2/27. For CS152, the exam venue is North Gate 105.
    2. If you have DSP Exam accommodations, we will reach out to you via email by EoD Tuesday, 2/20. The exam will start at the same time, but in a different room.
    3. Lectures 1 through 11 (as on the course schedule) are in scope. We're sorry about the inconsistent numbers on the title slides, please ignore them.
    4. Expect a more detailed Midterm 1 logistics post by EoD Tuesday, 2/20.
  4. Extensions (and Slip Days): As announced in Lecture 9, we've made some clarifications on the use of Extensions and Slip Days. These are also on the 152 Policies page of the website now.

    1. Project Proposals are due on Wednesday, 2/21 at 11:59pm. More on this coming in an Ed post.
    2. We're planning on proposal presentations and feedback in section on Wednesday, 3/06.

  3. Examinations:
    1. Midterm 1 is during the regular lecture slot on Tuesday, 2/27. For CS252A, the exam venue is Evans 71.

    2. Last year's recording covers the same material and has been posted to the website.
    3. Slides from today's lecture (with corrected Admisinistrivia) have also been posted to the website.

    1. Homework 1 is due tonight, 2/08.
    2. Homework 2 has been released and is due Wednesday, 2/21.
      1. It is in-scope for Midterm 1.

    2. We will be sending out a Pre-Proposal Google Form to help students collect their thoughts and help staff survey the group. This will be due on Tuesday, 2/13 at 11:59 pm.

Week 3 Announcements

  1. Ed: All students on the roster have been invited to Ed.
  2. Homework: Homework 1 was released last week and is due Wednesday, 2/07.
  3. Lab:
    1. Lab 1 was released last week and is due Friday, 2/09.
    2. Directed portions of all labs must be done individually.
    3. Open-ended portions of all labs must be done in groups of two or three.
  4. Examinations:
    1. Please ensure you're available for both in-class Midterm exams.
    2. The Final exam will be held on Thursday, 5/09 8a-11a.
    3. The Alternate Final exam will be held on Thursday, 5/09 11a-2p. Only students with documented conflicts will be eligible for the alternate exam.
  5. Gradescope: The latest roster as of Monday 1/29 was used to add 152 students to Gradescope.
  6. HW/Lab Party:
    1. We will be hosting HW/Lab Party during weeks when an assignment is due in Raghav's Tu 6-7 pm slot on the 5th Floor of Soda Hall.
    2. Non-assignment weeks will have regular OH.
  7. Requesting Extensions: Please use the 152 Extensions form on the course website to request extensions.
  8. Extenuating Circumstances: In case you'd like to discuss extenuating circumstances, we prefer you contact us by making a private Ed post. This will be visible to staff members only.
  9. Anonymous Feedback Form: We've created a new anonymous feedback form (as the previous one was a remnant from Sp23) and it has been linked on the website. In case you submitted a response before this, please submit a new response. Apologies for the confusion!

  1. Ed: All students on the roster have been invited to Ed.
  2. Paper Readings:
    1. Paper Readings have been assigned on the course website.
    2. Discussions start next week.
      1. The first discussion is 4-5 pm on Monday, 2/05.
      2. The rest of the discussions will be 4-5 pm on Wednesdays. This slot will also be used for discussing parts of the final project, i.e., pre-proposal, proposal, checkpoint(s), etc., later in the semester.
    3. Paper reviews will be due the night before on HotCRP. Please sign up with the link on the course website.
    4. Exact dates will be announced and this post will be updated accordingly. Done!
  3. Examinations:
    1. Please ensure you're available for both in-class Midterm exams.
    2. There is no final for 252A, only a final project.
  4. Gradescope: 252A students only need Gradescope to view graded Midterm exams. The latest roster as of Monday 1/29 was used to add 252A students to Gradescope.

Week 2 Announcements

Jan 22
  • Lab1/HW1 out Wednesday. ~Due Feb 07~ EDIT: HW1 Due Feb 07. Lab 1 Due Feb 09. The rest of the due dates are also live!
  • We fully cleared the waitlist (as of the prior weekend). ~220 in class (both sections).
  • Here are the finalized Class notes (not yet updated on CalnetCentral). 1) Conflicts allowed, but you need to be present in lecture for the midterms. We will find additional rooms (same time) to fit the student overload. Stay tuned. 2) Lectures are recorded. 3) There is a final for CS 152 on May 9 8-11a. There will be an alternate final time at May 9 11-2p (right after). You need to be able to make one of these (else: drop the class). 4) No final for CS 252a (project instead).
  • See calendar for OH/Disc locations/times.
  • As before, go to whatever Disc you like. But we may need to rebalance starting next week.
  • Students will be added to gradescope by EOW.
